Prof Jacques de Ville

Acting Dean of the Faculty of Law

Professor Jacques de Ville is also the Head of the Department of Public Law and Jurisprudence. He is the author of a number of publications in the area of public law, including Constitutional and Statutory Interpretation (Interdoc Publishers, 2000) and Judicial Review of Administrative Action in South Africa (LexisNexis/Butterworths, 2003). His research and publications currently focus on deconstruction, psychoanalysis and constitutional theory. This includes the translation of and contribution to a book on Legal Philosophy, a Special Issue of the International Journal for the Semiotics of Law on “Derrida, Semiotics and Justice”, and a book on Jacques Derrida and his relation to law. He is the holder of an Alexander von Humboldt fellowship, from 2007-2008.
