The Dullah Omar Institute conducted a study which examined the state of transparency in local government in relation to the publication of registers of councillors' interests. This is against the background that the law requires councillors to declare their financial interests within 60 days of assuming office and for each councillor to update the municipal manager every time there is a change in his or her interests. Further, the municipal council must decide which components of the declarations of interests should be made accessible to the public. The key question is: are municipalities publishing registers of councillors' interests? Join us at a webinar to discuss the key findings of our study.
