[Call for Submissions] ESR Review Special Issue: Preventing non-communicable diseases in Africa: Promoting healthy diets through law and policy
The Socio-Economic Rights Project (SERP) at the Dullah Omar Institute (DOI), University of the Western Cape, invites legal scholars, public health experts, policymakers, and civil society advocates to contribute to a special 2026 issue of the Economic and Social Rights Review in Africa (ESR Review).
Diet-related non-communicable diseases (NCDs)—including diabetes, cardiovascular conditions, and hypertension—present an escalating threat to public health and socio-economic rights across Africa and the Global South. This special issue aims to critically analyse how legal, regulatory, and rights-based strategies can be leveraged to transform food environments, mitigate NCD risks, and advance the right to health.
Theme: Preventing non-communicable diseases in Africa: Promoting healthy diets through law and policy
