Observing the October 2020 general elections in the United Republic of Tanzania

In keeping with the objects of the Dullah Omar Institute (DOI) to promote respect for democracy, constitutionalism and the rule of law in Africa, the 2020 general elections in Tanzania presented a unique opportunity to observe whether these principles were practically implemented in the election processes.

Dr Michelle R. Maziwisa, a postdoctoral research fellow at the Dullah Omar Institute, University of the Western Cape, under the South African Research Chairs Initiative (SARChI) in Multilevel Government, Law and Development, has been named the recipient of the 2020 Ronald Watts Young Researcher Award.

This series is organised by the Access to Food for Students Project at the Dullah Omar Institute, in collaboration with the Centre of Excellence in Food Security. It seeks to address food insecurity in tertiary institutions nationwide through research and advocacy.
