Hybrid seminar: Coalition governance in Western Cape municipalities: a South African blueprint?
On 27 September 2024 the African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (ACCORD) and the Dullah Omar Institute at the University of Western Cape hosted a hybrid seminar titled ‘Coalition governance in Western Cape municipalities: a South African blueprint?’. At the seminar they explored the best practices and strategies for sustainable coalition governance, with a focus on the state of coalition governance in Western Cape municipalities. The key themes included: (1) Intergovernmental relations and service delivery; (2) Electoral and political dynamics in the Western Cape; (3) Insights into coalition (in)stability in selected Western Cape municipalities.
