Dr Rongedzayi Fambasayi
Dr. Fambasayi is a postdoctoral researcher in the Children's Rights Project, Dullar Omar Institute, within the African Children’s Charter Project (ACCP) a multi-partner, multi-location project whose central goal is to promote the accelerated implementation and monitoring of the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child.
He is an international human rights lawyer and climate change researcher with a PhD in Law and Development (2023) and an LLM in International Child Law (2016) both from the North-West University. His current research projects are focused on child-sensitive climate adaptation and justice, exploring the intersection of the law, development, climate change, environmental sustainability, cities (local governance) and children’s rights.
He previously served as an Independent External Expert in the Working Group on Children’s Rights and Climate Change of the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (2022-2023), leading the mainstreaming of children’s rights in climate action on the continent. He has worked at international and regional levels including with UNICEF, UN-Habibat, Play Africa and the African Child Policy Forum.
He is a Board Member of the Association of Children’s Museum based in Arlington, United States of America.
