Prof Xavier Philippe

Extraordinary Professor

Xavier Philippe is Professor of Public Law at the Paul Cézanne University Aix-Marseille III and Director of the Louis Favoreu Institute - GERJC, whose field of study focuses on French and comparative constitutional jurisprudence. After working on French constitutional and administrative disputes, he spent seven years in South Africa from 1994 to 2001, where he participated as a foreign observer in the drafting of the 1996 Constitution, in the work of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Reconciliation and taught at the Universities of Western Cape and Cape Town as Associate Professor.

He has also been seconded to the International Committee of the Red Cross as Regional Legal Adviser for the Eastern European countries from 2004 to 2007. He teaches constitutional law, comparative constitutional litigation, international humanitarian law and Human rights and international criminal law.
