Vivienne Mentor-Lalu

Deputy Project Head

Mentor-Lalu, Deputy Project Head/Researcher/Facilitator for the women and Democracy Initiative has worked in the NGO sector, locally and abroad, mostly in the women's sector. Vivienne worked for the Western Cape Network on Violence Against Women for two years.

Before that she worked for the Domestic Abuse Project based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She started working at SWEAT, a sex worker rights organisation, in 2002 and held various positions during her tenure there including training programme and advocacy programme coordinator.

In 2010 she was appointed as the advocacy and gender coordinator for RAPCAN, a children’s rights organisation. In 2013 she assumed the role of national coordinator for the Shukumisa Campaign, a coalition of organisations working across the nine provinces to prevent and address sexual offences in South Africa.
