We are proud to share the Dullah Omar Institute’s 2024 Annual Report, capturing a year of research, teaching, advocacy, and collaboration in pursuit of our mission to advance human rights, democracy, and good governance.
In a year shaped by South Africa’s general elections and the formation of a Government of National Unity, our work remained firmly focused on addressing socio-economic challenges, strengthening governance, and protecting rights.
Highlights from 2024 include:
- Hosting the 14thDullah Omar Memorial Lecturewith Chief Justice Raymond Zondo.
- Publishing 6 books, 12 book chapters, 8 journal articles, and 16 research reports.
- Graduating 40 students from the Postgraduate Diploma in Public Law (Local Government)students, 4 Master’s students, and 2 doctoral
- Advancing impactful projects in criminal justice reform, children’s rights, socio-economic rights, and multilevel governance.
- Partnering with African and international organisations to drive law and policy reforms across the continent.
