Municipalities owe Water Boards R9-billion for bulk water

The March 2019 Research Brief shows that Municipalities owe R 9 billion to Water Boards for bulk water services, amounting to 46% of total revenue of Water Boards.

At the current rate of change municipal arrears are projected to exceed the revenue of Water Boards by 2022. This research complements earlier research briefs on Municipal Debt to Eskom and Municipal Compliance with Audit standards.
