Prof Jaap de Visser comments on the sex shop in front of Parliament issue

The director of Community Law Centre wrote an opinion article addressing the issue where some officials expressed concerns over the opening of an Adult World sex shop right in front of parliament.

In this article, titled: Parly has no say in sex shop site, which was published by IOL.co.za, De Visser says In terms of the current Businesses Act, the municipality cannot refuse granting a business licence to an adult store on the grounds of objections from the community (such as schools and places of worship or Parliament). He pointed out that the municipality cannot refuse granting a licence to an adult store on the grounds of objections from the community this includes Parliament.
