South Africa’s major cities (the Metros) have not only borne the brunt of the epidemic and its social and economic consequences, they are the leading edge of the national effort to combat the virus, protect the health of communities, and rebuild and transform the economy.
In this webinar we talk to Malijeng Ngqaleni, the Deputy Director-General responsible for intergovernmental relations in the National Treasury about the impact the pandemic has had on the Metros, the implications for Metro revenue and expenditure in the short and longer terms, and how coordination of National-Metro IGR has worked in practice.
Guest Speaker: Ms Malijeng Ngqaleni (DDG: IGR (National Treasury, Government of South Africa))
