Webinar: The Opening of the 2nd African School on Decentralisation

Theme: Good Governance in African Cities

By 2050 most Africans will live in cities, and more than 80% of that increase will occur within the existing borders of cities and especially in slums. The improvement of the living conditions of African people and the economic and social structural transformation of the African continent is therefore closely linked to the way in which African cities are governed.

From 30 May to 10 June 2022, experts from different parts of Africa and elsewhere will come together, in this year’s African School on Decentralisation, to share, with a select group of government officials, academics, members of civil society as well as city leaders and managers, and reflect on the need for well-functioning African cities.

The Dullah Omar Institute at the University of the Western Cape and the Centre for Federalism and Governance Studies at Addis Ababa University, therefore, invite you to join and be part of the key conversations from the School’s opening day as follows:
